Always a delight to stay at this hotel. Gorgeous building, beautiful decor, incredible service, and fantastic beds. With a restaurant on site, pool, fitness room, and a small amenities shop, there is no need to leave!
Poor management. Nice property. Upon arrival, we stood around at an unattended front desk for over 15 minutes. Another guest was looking for assistance and told us there was never anyone at the front desk. Bar was open, but no one staffing the bar. Finally someone walked out of the back. No apology, no explanation. She just acted like she didn't want to be there. Got to our room. Floors were soaking wet. Carpet cleaner laying in the hallway. It laid there for our entire two day stay. One cigarette laying conspicuously on the dresser. It just adds color to this story. No clue why there would be a smoke laying in a cleaned room in a non smoking property. Had breakfast in the restaurant the morning of departure. Again, no one in sight. Stood around for another 10 minutes before someone emerged from the kitchen. Breakfast was OK. Not great but cheap. This really is a very nice property with tremendous potential. If I owned it, I would immediately make a management change. Your investment is being undermined by extremely undisciplined employees. That falls on management.
I believe Kendrick at the front desk saved our stay here. He was beyond outgoing, helpful, and made our stay manageable. Bar/Restaurant staff was extremely friendly, efficient and the food was decent (Wasn't expecting much). Not a big fan of HI at-all, but the entire city was booked for some softball tournament, so we spent 3 nights here. Rooms were clean, housekeeping was helpful. Only major knock was the NO safes in the rooms dilemma... Really? Overall I'd give our stay ★★★ (Kendrick & Co. made it 5).
The restaurant manager was fantastic to work with this weekend. Our gymnastics bus came through for check in and we were having some issues with payments. We had found out that there is no continental breakfast which was never mentioned when it was known we were bringing high school kids. The restaurant manager was so helpful, respectful, and professional towards us. He set up a small area with orange juice, yogurt, and apples this morning. I am pleased with their service and the hotel beds were great. We will stay here again!
Not one of my best Holiday Inn experiences. House keepers may or may not make your bed each day. Rooms and hotel is nice otherwise.
