My primary care doctor put in a referral 2 months ago....she advised me to call and check the status and hopefully get an appointment.
You're lucky they haven't called you back. Don't go!!!
I think I know the answer, but still have hope because they are one of the few specialty clinics near my area.
My Neurosurgeon's office referred me to schedule a cortisone shot for my spinal pain. His office told me to call the pain clinic in 1 week if they hadn't called me to let me know of the date they had made an appointment for the shot. 10 days later I had not heard back from the pain clinic so I called them. The receptionist was very short with me while explaining that they have too many new patients and my case is on the Dr's desk for review whether they will accept me for treatment or not. The process will take a very long time and they will call me after they decide whether they will help me or not. I was under the impression that my neurologist was just scheduling a shot. The curt manner with which I was spoken to and dismissed was disheartening. I hope that this isn't representative of the care that I may or may not receive. I'm not sure if my Dr's orders will be enough to get the shot which he determined that I needed.
Sincerely Cattl3Gurl
I have called once a week for 3 weeks....not one of my calls has been returned. I simply want to know if they are accepting me as a patient or if I need to go elsewhere.
I agree with Cynthis I have been treated with rudeness everytime I have called,I can honestly say that I've been referred to the pain clinic more then 10 times,My Internist Dr /Pain management even told the pain clinic that I could get alot of relief from a Epidural, I don't want Cortisone only in Florida the Epidural 's work on my Chronic pain greatly Epidural 's like they give women in labor but not as strong ,I have heard that they only give Cortisone in your spine I've had one and it didn't give me any relief at all,Plus Pain management Dr's when going threw medical school have to specialize in pain management and Anesthesiologist, A internist Dr has no way of dealing with pain unless they have this because there internist Dr 's,This is something that bothers me greatly, If I bring up the fact that I still have basically no quality of life and in the bed all the time I seems to not bother or concern my internist Dr, My medical care in Florida was so much better then in ND,I had full blown Rabies at the age of 9 1/(Which means I was a rabid human )because of the Rabies Virus I have been threw pure hell with my health every year or two I get a difficult disease and most Dr's don't even believe that I'm telling the truth about being a rabid human at 9 1/2 yrs old,I'm so tired of fighting off diseases, Cancer 4 times,A rare disease called Purigo Nodularest(Only 1-2 people get this rare disease a year,There is so much more than what I have written,I pray every day for a Internist Dr,Pain management Dr & Neurologist Dr(I do have a Neurologist Dr now but have only seen him once)The only Dr I trust wholly is my Podiatrist, I just hope & pray that I'm blessed with a Dr's that will really look into what rabies does to York body,My nervous system is totally gone as well as my Immune system is so messed up,I'm 53yrs old and my Birthday is in March,My God Father was head of Oklahoma veterinarian school and retired to FL and two weeks after being there became head of Florida veterinarian medicine and passed away two days before signing my rabies file,That would of helped me more then words can describe, ND runs there medical care so different than any other state I've been in,As I said earlier I just hope & pray I get a Dr that's going to look into what rabies does to the human body, I really believe that a Dr of veterinarian medicine could help me better than a medical Dr,They know more about rabies then medical Dr's,I know that sounds crazy but it's true unfortunately it's against the law,I hope this is read by the Pain management clinic and hope it's helpful to others that are having trouble getting into the Pain Management Clinic.
Since Medcenter One changed to Sanford, I can no longer do business with them. They have a pure corporate culture now, where each and every patient is now just a number. They are only interested in extracting as much money as possible. The pain clinic wants to do unwarranted tests that they then bill directly to the cutomer, if you don't do the tests they will not provide services. If the tests find anything they don't like, they will discontinue your paid medications. I doubt anyone there has heard of they hippocratic oath.
