DRC Director Don Morrison has appeared in numerous publications and has been featured on MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show. The Dakota Resource Council is clearly viewed on the national stage as one of the leading conservation groups addressing the rapid growth of the hydraulic fracturing (fracking) industry.
The Dakota Resource Council (DRC) is a great group!
The DRC is a grassroots advocacy association of landowners, conservationists, and media professionals advocating for decision-making that is fully informed and responsive to local communities. Amidst the rapid industrialization of western North Dakota, the DRC is the strongest, most visible voice reminding us of traditional and indigenous connections to this rural landscape.
Helping the people of ND
The DRC is calling for stronger legislation, better oversight, objective monitoring and enforcement of existing laws, regulations and ordinances currently in place. The Dakota Resource Council also supports efforts in community education and educational research that will give teachers and parents - now and in the future - more tools and information to supplement science and environmental education in fracking-affected communities.
As a researcher and photojournalist working in western North Dakota, I have found members of the organization to be very committed to their work, while open and receptive to new ideas.
